Around 2019 we saw the introduction of protected Bosch EDC17 & MED17 using a Infineon Tricore processor; where people have often been told that these new Tricore ECUs cannot be remapped as the vehicles ECU itself is "Locked", and this is not true. There is no "Anti-tuning" or "Locked" software. Many tuners are inexperienced and do not understand these ECUs and think its easier to just say "it's not possible". 

We at GST Motorsport have a safe and reliable solution for remapping these ECUs and is done via a Bootloader technique. If you aren't familiar with this it basically involves the removal of the ECU and connecting directly with it to allow us to do reading & writing of the Tricore processor. This is the safest way for us to remap any EDC17 or MED17 ECU. Please remember (pre 2019) ECUs firstly came out without any protection, which normally would allow us to flash via OBD but during warranty repairs and normal servicing at dealerships, they do have the ability to update the old software version with a newer version, which in this case, attempting to reprogram the ECU via the OBD could possibly cause damage to your ECU.
